About Springville

Springville earned the nickname Art City. Local schoolteachers and artists began collecting paintings in the early 1900s, and their gift grew into the Springville Museum of Art, housed since 1937 in a Spanish Colonial building that holds one of the best collections of Utah art anywhere. Mormon pioneers settled the town in 1850 at the mouth of Hobble Creek, beneath the steep Wasatch Range.

That creek still shapes life here. Hobble Creek Canyon winds east into the mountains with a well-loved public golf course, shady picnic groves at Kelly's Grove and the campground and pavilions of Jolley's Ranch, while Wayne Bartholomew Family Park offers a sandy beach and fishing pond on the edge of town. The historic Main Street keeps old storefronts, cafes and murals.

Summer is festival season: Art City Days in June brings a parade, carnival and fireworks, and in July the Springville World Folkfest fills the Spring Acres amphitheater with dancers from around the globe. Provo and its universities are about fifteen minutes north, and Salt Lake City is an hour away.

Best seasonMay to October; June for Art City Days and July for World Folkfest, autumn for canyon colors.
Ideal stayOne day, or longer as a base for Utah Valley and the Wasatch.
ArrivingProvo Airport is about 20 minutes away and Salt Lake City International about an hour; Interstate 15 runs past town.
