About Twin Falls

Twin Falls is a city of more than 50,000 people in southern Idaho, set on the rim of the Snake River Canyon. Founded in 1904 after an irrigation project turned the dry sagebrush plain into productive farmland, it is now the hub of the Magic Valley and one of Idaho's fastest-growing cities.

The city's showpiece is Shoshone Falls, where the Snake River plunges about 212 feet over a horseshoe-shaped rim, higher than Niagara Falls. Just upstream, the Perrine Bridge spans the canyon about 486 feet above the river and is one of the few places where BASE jumping is legal year-round without a permit. A paved trail follows the canyon rim, and you can still see the dirt ramp where Evel Knievel tried to jump the canyon in 1974.

In town, the Herrett Center for Arts and Science has a planetarium and museum, and the historic City Park hosts summer band concerts. Thousand Springs, Balanced Rock and the City of Rocks are within day-trip distance.

Best seasonApril to June, when snowmelt makes Shoshone Falls most powerful; summer is hot and dry.
Ideal stayOne to two days.
ArrivingMagic Valley Regional Airport is on the south side of town; Boise is about two hours west via I-84.
