About Smyrna

Smyrna is a city of about 56,000 people in Cobb County, Georgia, just northwest of Atlanta. It grew around a Methodist campground in the 1830s and the Western and Atlantic Railroad, and Civil War fighting passed through the area during the Atlanta Campaign in 1864. It calls itself the "Jonquil City" for the yellow flowers that bloom across town each spring.

The heart of the city is Market Village, a walkable town center with a fountain, restaurants and the Smyrna Community Center, built around the historic railroad depot. The Smyrna History Museum is in a replica of the old depot, and the city hosts the Jonquil Festival each spring and many outdoor concerts.

Smyrna has many parks, including Jonquil Park and Taylor-Brawner Park with its historic house, and the Silver Comet Trail starts nearby. Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, and The Battery Atlanta are just to the east, and downtown Atlanta is about 20 minutes away.

Best seasonMarch to May for the Jonquil Festival; fall for mild weather and Braves games.
Ideal stayOne day for Market Village, the history museum, the parks and The Battery Atlanta.
ArrivingHartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 30 minutes south; Interstate 285 runs along the city.
