Peachtree Corners is a city of about 42,000 people in Gwinnett County, about 20 miles northeast of downtown Atlanta, bordered on the north by the Chattahoochee River. It began in the 1960s as a planned community created by Paul Duke, who built Technology Park/Atlanta to attract research companies alongside homes and parks, and it became a city only in 2012.
Today the city is known for Curiosity Lab, a living laboratory where self-driving vehicles, smart traffic signals and new technology are tested on a real road through Technology Park. The Town Center brings restaurants, shops and a town green with a giant video screen for concerts and movie nights, connected by a pedestrian bridge across Peachtree Parkway. Simpsonwood Park, a former Methodist retreat, protects more than 200 acres of forest along the Chattahoochee, with trails down to the river and an old chapel.
The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has access points nearby for fishing, kayaking and tubing, and the Peachtree Corners Trail network links neighborhoods, parks and Town Center. The historic towns of Norcross and Duluth, with their small downtowns, are a few minutes away, and Atlanta is easy to reach by car.
Peachtree Corners Town Center is the city's walkable hub, with restaurants, shops, a town green and a stage for concerts and movies. A pedestrian bridge connects it to the Forum shopping center. Visit on a summer evening for free events, and use the parking deck to avoid circling the lots.
Technology Park is one of the Atlanta area's earliest planned office parks, designed around a wooded campus with lakes and walking paths. It is home to tech firms and Curiosity Lab. Its trails and lakes make for a pleasant walk on weekends, when the office traffic is light.
Simpsonwood Park is a wooded Gwinnett County park along the Chattahoochee River, with forested trails, river views and a quiet, natural feel. It was once a retreat property before becoming a public park. Trails can be hilly and muddy after rain, so wear good shoes and bring water.
The Peachtree Corners Trail is a growing network of paved multi-use paths linking neighborhoods, Town Center and Technology Park. It is used for walking, jogging and biking, with wooded stretches and bridges. Start at Town Center, where you can grab food before or after your walk.
Pinckneyville Park is a Gwinnett County park with sports fields, a walking trail, playgrounds, picnic pavilions and a soccer complex that hosts many youth games. It is a lively community spot on weekends. Visit on a weekday morning for a quieter walk around the paved loop trail.
Curiosity Lab is a real-world testing ground for smart city technology in Peachtree Corners, with a stretch of road used to trial autonomous vehicles, sensors and connected devices. The innovation center hosts startups and events. Drive or walk along Technology Parkway to see the test route and its signage.
The Forum Peachtree Corners is an open-air shopping center on Peachtree Parkway with national stores, local boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops in a village-style layout. It hosts seasonal events and holiday activities. Combine it with Town Center across the road, linked by a pedestrian bridge.
