About Mableton

Mableton is a city in south Cobb County, about 15 miles west-northwest of downtown Atlanta, with the Chattahoochee River along its southeastern edge. It takes its name from Robert Mable, a Scottish immigrant who bought 300 acres here in 1843, and for most of its history it was an unincorporated community. Voters chose cityhood and Mableton was incorporated in 2023, instantly becoming one of the largest cities in Cobb County with roughly 47,000 residents.

The Robert Mable House, built in 1843 off Floyd Road, is the city's best-known landmark. Its grounds hold the Mable House Arts Center and the Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre, an outdoor stage that hosts summer concerts, plays and community events. Right beside it runs the Silver Comet Trail, a paved path for walkers and cyclists that stretches more than 60 miles from Smyrna to the Alabama line.

Nickajack Creek winds through Heritage Park, where wooded trails follow the water to the historic Concord Covered Bridge and the ruins of an old woolen mill. Six Flags Over Georgia sits just to the southwest near Austell, and Sweetwater Creek State Park, with its own mill ruins and creekside trails, is a short drive west.

Best seasonApril to June and September to October for trail days, creek walks and outdoor concerts at the amphitheater.
Ideal stayHalf a day for the Mable House and the Silver Comet Trail, a full day with Six Flags or Sweetwater Creek.
ArrivingHartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 20 miles away via I-285; a car is the easiest way to get around.
