About Peachtree City
Peachtree City is a planned city of about 39,000 people in Fayette County, about 30 miles south of downtown Atlanta. Founded in 1959 as a master-planned community, it was designed around villages, lakes and woods, and it is best known for its network of more than 100 miles of multi-use paths that residents use to travel around town by golf cart, bike and on foot.
Golf carts are a way of life here: thousands are registered in the city, and the paths connect neighborhoods, schools, shops and parks through shady forest and across bridges and tunnels. Lake Peachtree, at the city's center, has a fountain, a boardwalk and a walking loop, and Lake Kedron and Lake McIntosh offer fishing and quiet water. The Fred, the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, hosts concerts and events through the warmer months.
Drake Field and the city's parks host sports and festivals, and Line Creek Nature Area protects woods and trails along the creek. Falcon Field, the city's airport, is home to a historic aircraft collection. Nearby Fayetteville has a historic courthouse square, and Trilith, a new town built around a major film studio, is a short drive away.
