About Southlake
Southlake grew from farmland on the south shore of Grapevine Lake into one of the most affluent suburbs in North Texas, and its centerpiece is a walkable downtown built from scratch around the turn of the millennium. The city of about 31,000 sits in northeast Tarrant County, close to DFW International Airport.
Southlake Town Square mixes brick shopping streets, restaurants, a hotel and the Town Hall facing a green park with a gazebo and fountains. It is the stage for the city's events, from Art in the Square each spring to a large holiday tree in winter. Friday nights in the fall belong to the Carroll Dragons, one of the state's best-known high school football programs.
For open space, the Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve protects woods, prairie and lakeshore with miles of trails. Historic Grapevine, Fort Worth and Dallas are all within a short drive.
Best seasonMarch to May and October to November, when Texas heat eases and festivals fill Town Square.
