About Grapevine

Grapevine is a city of about 50,000 people in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, sitting right next to DFW International Airport and on the shore of Grapevine Lake. Settled in the 1840s and named for the wild mustang grapes that grew on the prairie, it is one of the oldest towns in North Texas and today markets itself as a destination of its own.

The heart of town is historic Main Street, lined with restored brick buildings, winery tasting rooms, restaurants and shops, and the animated Glockenspiel clock tower at Liberty Park Plaza. The Grapevine Vintage Railroad runs historic trains from the Cotton Belt depot to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Nash Farm, Heritage Park and the Torian Log Cabin recall early settlers.

Grapevine is also known as the Christmas Capital of Texas for its many holiday events, and for GrapeFest each September. Grapevine Mills mall has an aquarium, a Legoland Discovery Center and Meow Wolf, while the Gaylord Texan and Great Wolf Lodge resorts draw families year-round.

Best seasonMarch to May and October to December, especially September for GrapeFest and the Christmas season.
Ideal stayTwo days, or an easy add-on to a DFW layover.
ArrivingDFW International Airport borders the city; TEXRail trains connect Grapevine Main Street station with the airport and Fort Worth.
