About Palm Beach Gardens

Palm Beach Gardens is a planned city of about 60,000 people in northern Palm Beach County, Florida, a short drive inland from the Atlantic beaches. It was founded in 1959 by billionaire developer John D. MacArthur, who envisioned a garden city of tree-lined streets and parks, and it grew into one of the wealthiest communities on Florida's Gold Coast.

Golf is central to the city's identity. PGA National Resort, with its famous Champion course, hosts the PGA Tour's Cognizant Classic each winter, and dozens of private golf communities spread across the city. Shoppers head to The Gardens Mall, one of the most upscale malls in South Florida, and to the restaurants and cinema of Downtown at the Gardens.

Nature is close by too. Frenchman's Forest Natural Area and the Loxahatchee Slough protect pine flatwoods, cypress and wetlands, while John D. MacArthur Beach State Park, a few miles east, offers a quiet barrier-island beach and lagoon. Jupiter, Juno Beach and West Palm Beach are all within about 20 minutes.

Best seasonNovember to April for dry, mild weather; late February brings the Cognizant Classic golf tournament.
Ideal stayTwo to three days for golf, shopping and nearby beaches.
ArrivingPalm Beach International Airport is about 20 minutes south; Interstate 95 and Florida's Turnpike both run through the city.
