About Davie
Davie is a town of about 105,000 people in western Broward County, between Fort Lauderdale and the Everglades. It began as a farming settlement on drained Everglades land in the early 1900s, and it still embraces a Western theme, with horse trails, ranches, a rodeo arena and a downtown built in a frontier style, which surprises many visitors to South Florida.
Flamingo Gardens, a botanical garden and wildlife sanctuary founded in 1927, has giant tropical trees, rescued Florida wildlife and flamingos, and the historic Wray Home. The Bergeron Rodeo Grounds host rodeos and events, and the Old Davie School Historical Museum preserves the 1918 schoolhouse.
Vista View Park, built on an old landfill, offers some of the highest views in Broward County and is home to burrowing owls, while Tree Tops Park has boardwalks through a hammock forest. Nova Southeastern University's campus is in town, and the Everglades airboat rides and Fort Lauderdale's beaches are both a short drive away.
