Its Mediterranean Revival clubhouse and grandstand, wrapped in bougainvillea and royal palms, remain among the most beautiful sporting architecture in the country, and the property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The infield lake is home to a celebrated flock of pink American flamingos that has lived here for decades, a sight in itself. After closing in 2001, the track reopened with quarter horse racing. Visit on a race or event day to see the grounds at their best, and bring a camera for the birds.
