About Novi

Novi is a city of about 66,000 people in Oakland County, Michigan, about 25 miles northwest of downtown Detroit. Once a crossroads village on the old Grand River Avenue route, it has grown into one of the region's main shopping and business centers, home to a large Japanese community and many international companies.

Most visitors come to Novi for Twelve Oaks Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in Michigan, or for trade shows and fairs at the Suburban Collection Showplace, one of the region's biggest exhibition centers. A wide range of restaurants, including many Japanese and other Asian eateries, lines the main roads.

Novi also has more outdoor space than its suburban image suggests. Lakeshore Park sits on the south shore of Walled Lake with a beach and wooded trails, ITC Community Sports Park offers fields and paths, MSU Tollgate Farm hosts educational events, and Maybury State Park, just south of the city, has a working farm, horse trails and mountain biking.

Best seasonJune to September for Walled Lake and the parks; winter for holiday shopping at Twelve Oaks.
Ideal stayOne day for shopping and parks, or longer when attending a show at the Suburban Collection Showplace.
ArrivingDetroit Metropolitan Airport is about 25 minutes away by car; Novi sits at the junction of Interstates 96 and 275.
