About League City
League City is a city of about 115,000 people between Houston and Galveston, along Clear Creek near Clear Lake and Galveston Bay. It grew from an 1800s railroad town and rice and cattle country, and its historic district still has giant live oaks planted more than a century ago. Today it is a fast-growing suburb in the heart of the Bay Area, close to NASA's Johnson Space Center.
League Park, in the historic district, is shaded by old oaks and has a lily pond and footbridge, along with the restored Little Green Schoolhouse and the West Bay Common School Children's Museum. The Butler Longhorn Museum celebrates Texas longhorn cattle and ranching history, and Big League Dreams has replica major league ballparks for local games.
Space Center Houston, the official visitor center of Johnson Space Center, is just a few miles away, and the Kemah Boardwalk's rides, restaurants and waterfront are close by. Clear Creek and the nearby bay are popular for paddling, fishing and boating, and Galveston's beaches are about 30 minutes south.
Best seasonOctober to May for mild weather, boating and the boardwalk; summers are hot and humid.
