About Bryan

Bryan is a city of about 87,000 people in the Brazos Valley of Central Texas, the seat of Brazos County and twin city to College Station, home of Texas A&M University. Founded as a railroad town in the 1860s, it kept a handsome historic downtown that has been revived with restaurants, wine bars, boutiques and live music.

Downtown Bryan centers on the restored Queen Theatre, colorful storefronts and First Friday street festivals, with historic homes and churches on the surrounding blocks. The Brazos Valley Museum of Natural History covers fossils and local wildlife, the Brazos Valley African American Museum preserves the region's Black history, and the Children's Museum of the Brazos Valley keeps young visitors busy.

Messina Hof Winery, one of the oldest in Texas, offers tastings and vineyard tours just east of town. Boonville Heritage Park recalls the county's first settlement, Lake Bryan has paddling and trails, and Aggie football weekends next door fill the area with energy every fall.

Best seasonMarch to May for wildflowers and patios, and September to November for football and festivals.
Ideal stayOne to two days for downtown, museums and the winery, combined with College Station.
ArrivingEasterwood Airport is in College Station; Houston airports are about 90 minutes southeast.
