About Cedar Park

Cedar Park is a city of about 80,000 people in Williamson County, Texas, on the edge of the Hill Country about 20 miles northwest of downtown Austin. It began in the late 1800s as a railroad stop and cedar-cutting community known for its cedar posts and limestone, and it has grown rapidly since the 1990s into one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the state.

The historic Cedar Park Depot recalls the railroad era, and the restored John M. King Log House is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the area. The H-E-B Center hosts the Texas Stars hockey team, big concerts and events, and the Saturday farmers market. Lakeline Mall and many restaurants line the busy corridor along US 183.

Outdoor time centers on Brushy Creek Lake Park and the Brushy Creek Regional Trail, which follows the creek through shaded greenbelts toward Round Rock. Veterans Memorial Park has a memorial, trails and a popular dog park. The Highland Lakes, Lake Travis and Hill Country towns such as Georgetown and Burnet are all a short drive away.

Best seasonMarch to May and October to November, avoiding the hottest summer months.
Ideal stayOne day, or a quiet base for exploring Austin and the Hill Country.
ArrivingAustin-Bergstrom International Airport is about 40 minutes southeast; the MetroRail Red Line stops at nearby Lakeline station.
