About Rosenberg

Rosenberg is a city of about 40,000 people in Fort Bend County, on the Brazos River roughly 35 miles southwest of downtown Houston. It began in the early 1880s as a railroad junction and was named for Henry Rosenberg, a Swiss-born businessman and railroad president. Rail lines still cross here, and trains are a constant part of town life.

That heritage is the focus of the Rosenberg Railroad Museum, which displays a historic interlocking tower, a restored private railroad car, a caboose and model train layouts. Historic downtown Rosenberg, along Third Street, has early 20th century brick buildings with antique stores, boutiques, cafes and breweries, and hosts art walks and seasonal festivals.

The Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo fills the county fairgrounds in Rosenberg each autumn, and Seabourne Creek Nature Park offers trails and prairie restoration. Richmond, the county seat, is right next door, and Brazos Bend State Park, known for alligators and birdlife, is about half an hour to the southeast.

Best seasonOctober to April, when Gulf Coast heat and humidity ease; the county fair is held in early autumn.
Ideal stayHalf a day to a day for downtown and the railroad museum.
ArrivingHouston's Hobby and Bush airports are about 45 to 60 minutes away via I-69 and US 59.
