About Kennewick

Kennewick is the largest of the Tri-Cities in southeastern Washington, a sunny city of about 85,000 people on the Columbia River across from Pasco and next to Richland. With more than 300 days of sunshine a year, it sits in the heart of Columbia Valley wine country and is known for riverfront parks, irrigated farmland and a relaxed, outdoorsy pace.

Columbia Park stretches for miles along the river with trails, a golf course, boat launches and the much-loved Playground of Dreams, while Clover Island has a lighthouse, marina and waterfront dining. The cable-stayed Ed Hendler Bridge, known locally as the Blue Bridge, links Kennewick to Pasco and lights up at night.

Historic Downtown Kennewick has antique shops, cafes and tasting rooms in early 1900s buildings, and Highlands Grange Park offers a fountain and demonstration garden. Sun Downs hosts horse racing in spring, and dozens of wineries in Kennewick, Richland and the Red Mountain area are an easy drive, as are hikes up nearby Badger Mountain.

Best seasonApril to October for river days, wine tasting and hiking; summers are hot and dry.
Ideal stayTwo days for the riverfront, downtown and wineries across the Tri-Cities.
ArrivingTri-Cities Airport in Pasco is about 15 minutes away; Amtrak stops in Pasco.
