About Gresham

Gresham is Oregon's fourth-largest city, home to about 115,000 people on the eastern edge of the Portland metro area, with Mount Hood rising on the horizon. Settled by pioneers who came over the Barlow Road at the end of the Oregon Trail, it was long a farming town of berry fields and nurseries before growing into a busy suburb at the end of the MAX Blue Line.

Historic downtown Gresham has local restaurants, shops and the Gresham History Museum, housed in the city's 1913 Carnegie library. Main City Park, along Johnson Creek, has trails, a playground and the start of the Springwater Corridor, a rail trail that runs all the way into Portland, and Gresham Butte offers forest hikes with Mount Hood views.

Gresham is a gateway to the Columbia River Gorge and Mount Hood. Multnomah Falls, the Historic Columbia River Highway and Crown Point are about 20 minutes away, and the road to Mount Hood's ski areas and alpine lakes begins just east of town. The Gresham Saturday Market and the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival legacy keep the arts alive downtown.

Best seasonMay to September for gorge waterfalls and trails, and December to March for Mount Hood skiing.
Ideal stayHalf a day for downtown and Main City Park, longer as a base for the Gorge and Mount Hood.
ArrivingPortland International Airport is about 12 miles northwest, and the MAX Blue Line runs to Gresham.
