About Redmond

Redmond is a city of about 75,000 people at the north end of Lake Sammamish, about 15 miles east of Seattle. It began as a logging and farming town in the 1870s and is now known around the world as the home of Microsoft, as well as many other technology companies.

Redmond calls itself the "Bicycle Capital of the Northwest." The Sammamish River Trail and the Redmond Central Connector run through town, and Marymoor Park, one of the most popular parks in the region, has a velodrome, a huge off-leash dog area, rock climbing, concerts and festivals.

Old Town Redmond keeps historic buildings, restaurants and breweries along Leary Way and Cleveland Street, and Redmond Town Center has shopping and dining. Lake Sammamish State Park, Farrel-McWhirter Farm Park and the wineries of Woodinville are all close by, and the Link light rail now connects Redmond to Seattle.

Best seasonJune to September for parks, cycling and outdoor concerts.
Ideal stayOne to two days for Old Town, Marymoor Park, the river trail and Woodinville wineries.
ArrivingSeattle-Tacoma International Airport is about 30 minutes southwest; Link light rail serves Redmond.
