About Parsippany

Parsippany is the common name for Parsippany-Troy Hills, a township of about 56,000 people in Morris County, New Jersey, roughly 25 miles west of New York City. Its name comes from the Lenape, and for two centuries it was farmland dotted with small villages before highways and corporate campuses turned it into one of New Jersey's major business hubs.

The township is made up of neighborhoods such as Lake Hiawatha, Lake Parsippany, Rainbow Lakes and Mount Tabor, many built around small lakes as summer colonies in the early 1900s. Its most important historic site is Craftsman Farms, the country home of furniture maker Gustav Stickley and a National Historic Landmark of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Nature lovers can walk the boardwalk through Troy Meadows, one of the largest freshwater wetlands in the state, while fans of horror films and cult TV know Parsippany for the long-running Chiller Theatre Expo. The town is also a convenient base for Morristown's Revolutionary War sites and the hills of northern New Jersey.

Best seasonMay to October for lakes, wetland walks and the Craftsman Farms gardens.
