About Brick
Brick Township is a community of about 74,000 people in Ocean County on the Jersey Shore, one of the most populous towns in New Jersey. It was incorporated in 1850 and named for Joseph W. Brick, owner of the Bergen Iron Works, and it remained a quiet area of farms, bog iron works and small villages until post-war suburban growth.
The township spreads around the Metedeconk River and the shore of Barnegat Bay, and it also owns a slice of the barrier peninsula with three oceanfront beaches. Boating, crabbing and fishing are part of everyday life, with marinas and bayfront parks such as Windward Beach and Traders Cove.
On the mainland, the Havens Homestead Museum preserves a historic local farmhouse, the Brick Township Reservoir offers a lakeside trail, and the Ocean Ice Palace has been a skating landmark since 1960. Point Pleasant Beach, Island Beach State Park and Seaside Heights are close by.
