About Lynnwood

Lynnwood began as logged-off stump land and chicken farms north of Seattle and became a city only in 1959. Today it is the commercial heart of south Snohomish County, best known for Alderwood Mall, one of the largest shopping centers in the Puget Sound region, and for the 2024 arrival of Link light rail, which puts downtown Seattle a train ride away.

Behind the shopping streets hides a greener side. Scriber Lake Park wraps a small lake with wetland paths and a floating dock, Lynndale Park has forest trails and a skate park, and the paved Interurban Trail follows the old electric railway that once linked Seattle and Everett. Heritage Park keeps that story alive with a restored interurban car, while Keeler's Korner, a 1920s gas station on Highway 99, recalls the old road north.

Lynnwood makes a practical base for exploring the Edmonds waterfront, the Everett marina and day trips toward the Cascades and the San Juan ferries.

Best seasonJune to September for dry, mild days; November to December for holiday shopping.
Ideal stayOne day for shopping and parks, or use it as a base for a few days around Puget Sound.
ArrivingAbout 30 minutes north of Seattle on I-5, or by Link light rail to Lynnwood City Center station.
