About Harrison Hot Springs

Harrison Hot Springs is a small resort village at the southern end of Harrison Lake, in the Fraser Valley east of Vancouver. Mineral springs at the lake's edge have drawn visitors since the nineteenth century, and the village grew into a lakeside retreat framed by forested mountains. It sits within the traditional territory of the Sts'ailes people, and the surrounding hills are steeped in Sasquatch lore.

Soaking is the obvious starting point, and the Harrison Public Hot Pool offers spring-fed water open to day visitors. Beyond that, life centers on the lakefront. Esplanade Avenue runs past the sandy beach and lagoon, with cafes and ice cream shops facing the water. In summer, people rent kayaks, paddleboards and boats or take cruises out on the lake. The Spirit Trail is a forest walk decorated with clay faces set among the trees, and the steep Harrison Grind gives hikers a stiff climb above the village. Sasquatch Provincial Park, a short drive north, has quiet lakes such as Deer Lake and Hicks Lake for swimming, paddling and camping. Bridal Veil Falls, near Chilliwack, is an easy stop on the way in.

The village suits couples and families looking for a restful break rather than a packed itinerary. Summer weekends are busy, while winter brings mist, quiet streets and a soak in warm water.

Best seasonSummer is best for swimming and boating; the hot pool makes winter weekends appealing too.
Ideal stayA weekend of two or three days suits most visitors.
ArrivingMost travelers drive east from Metro Vancouver through the Fraser Valley, via Highway 1 or Highway 7.
