About Warwick

Warwick is Rhode Island's second-largest city, with about 82,000 people spread along 39 miles of Narragansett Bay shoreline just south of Providence. Founded in 1642, it is a city of distinct villages, coves and beaches, and it is also home to T. F. Green International Airport, the state's main air gateway.

Goddard Memorial State Park has beaches, bridle trails, a golf course and a carousel on Greenwich Bay, while Rocky Point State Park preserves the site of a beloved former amusement park with walking paths and bay views. Warwick City Park offers wooded trails, a beach and bike paths on a peninsula.

Historic Pawtuxet Village has 18th-century houses and the site where colonists burned the British ship Gaspee in 1772, celebrated each June with the Gaspee Days parade. Apponaug Village has the historic city hall, and Conimicut Point Park looks out to its lighthouse. Clam shacks, shopping at Warwick Mall and quick trips to Providence and Newport make it an easy base.

Best seasonJune to September for beaches, Gaspee Days and clam shacks, and October for fall color.
Ideal stayOne to two days for parks and villages, as a base for Providence and Newport.
ArrivingT. F. Green International Airport is in the city, with a rail station connecting to Providence and Boston.
