About Placentia
Placentia is a residential city of about 51,000 people in northern Orange County, California, next to Fullerton, Brea and Yorba Linda. Its name comes from a Latin word meaning pleasant place, and from the late 1800s it grew up as a center of Valencia orange groves and citrus packing, with a brief oil boom in the early 1900s.
That citrus heritage is preserved at George Key Ranch Historic Park, where a 1898 farmhouse sits among working orange trees and antique farm equipment, and at the Bradford House, a Victorian home built in 1902 for rancher and civic leader A. S. Bradford. Old Town Placentia, along Santa Fe Avenue by the railroad, is known for its family-run Mexican restaurants, bakeries and markets, and it hosts the annual Placentia Heritage Festival and parade each fall.
Tri-City Park, shared with Fullerton and Brea, has a lake with paths and fishing, and Kraemer Memorial Park offers shady lawns near downtown. Disneyland is about 20 minutes away, and Cal State Fullerton, Angel Stadium and the Honda Center are all close by.
