About Burbank

Burbank lies at the eastern end of the San Fernando Valley, below the Verdugo Mountains and just over the hills from Hollywood. It is named for David Burbank, a dentist turned rancher who owned land here in the 1800s, and it was incorporated as a city in 1911. Aviation shaped the city in the 20th century, when Lockheed built famous aircraft at its plants here and the airport grew into today's Hollywood Burbank Airport.

Burbank is best known as a center of film and television, home to Warner Bros., the Walt Disney Studios and many other media companies, which is why it calls itself the Media Capital of the World. Visitors can go behind the scenes on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood.

Downtown Burbank along San Fernando Boulevard is busy with shops and restaurants, Magnolia Park is known for vintage stores, and the 1943 City Hall is a fine example of streamlined civic design. Trails in Wildwood Canyon and the Verdugo Mountains offer views over the valley.

Best seasonOctober to May for mild weather and clear mountain views; summers are hot in the valley.
Ideal stayOne to two days for the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, downtown, Magnolia Park and a hike in the Verdugo Mountains.
ArrivingHollywood Burbank Airport is in the city, Metrolink and Amtrak trains stop at the airport and downtown, and Interstate 5 runs through Burbank.
