About Cuyahoga Falls

Cuyahoga Falls is a city in Summit County, Ohio, just north of Akron, named for the falls and rapids of the Cuyahoga River that tumble through a rocky gorge in its downtown. Its water power drew mills and factories in the 19th century, and today the river is again the city's main attraction.

The removal of two old dams downtown in 2013 restored rushing rapids along Front Street, the revitalized riverfront district where restaurants and bars overlook the water. Gorge Metro Park protects sandstone ledges, caves and hemlock forest along the river, and High Bridge Glens Park offers trails and views into the gorge from the city side.

In summer, Blossom Music Center hosts the Cleveland Orchestra and major concert tours in a wooded setting on the city's north side. Cuyahoga Valley National Park lies right next door, with waterfalls, the Towpath Trail and a scenic railroad, and Akron's museums and gardens are only minutes away.

Best seasonMay to October for river views, trails and Blossom concerts; fall for foliage.
Ideal stayOne to two days, combined with Cuyahoga Valley National Park.
ArrivingAkron-Canton Airport is about 30 minutes south; Cleveland Hopkins is about 40 minutes away.
