About Dublin

Founded in 1810 by a surveyor who named it after his father's birthplace in Ireland, Dublin, Ohio has leaned into its Irish roots ever since. The stone storefronts of the Historic District along High Street sit on a bluff above the Scioto River, about twenty minutes northwest of downtown Columbus, and today they share the riverfront with the newer restaurants and apartments of Bridge Park across the water.

The city is known for public art with a sense of humor: 109 concrete ears of corn standing in a former farm field, a giant stone head honoring the Wyandot chief Leatherlips, and an S-shaped pedestrian bridge, the Dublin Link, that ties the two sides of the river together. Every August the Dublin Irish Festival fills Coffman Park with bagpipes, dancers and Celtic bands, one of the largest Irish festivals in the world.

Golf matters here too. Jack Nicklaus built Muirfield Village Golf Club in his home region, and its Memorial Tournament brings PGA Tour stars each spring. Between festivals, Dublin is an easy half-day of riverside parks, waterfalls and patio dining.

Best seasonLate spring for the Memorial Tournament, early August for the Irish Festival, and fall for river walks.
Ideal stayA half day to a full day, easily combined with Columbus.
ArrivingJohn Glenn Columbus International Airport is about 25 minutes away; Interstate 270 circles the city.
