About Simi Valley

Simi Valley is a city in southeastern Ventura County, set in a broad valley surrounded by the Santa Susana Mountains and the Simi Hills, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Its rolling hills and sandstone outcrops have long served as a backdrop for Western films and television, and much of the valley remains open space.

The city's best-known landmark is the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum, set on a hilltop with views across the valley. It holds exhibits on Reagan's life and presidency, the Air Force One aircraft that carried seven presidents, a piece of the Berlin Wall, and the president's grave. Closer to downtown, the Strathearn Historical Park preserves early ranch buildings, including an adobe and a Victorian farmhouse.

Outdoor space is a big part of life here. Corriganville Park, once a movie ranch, has trails among rocks and oak trees, the Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park follows the old stagecoach route, and trails throughout the Rancho Simi Open Space lead into the hills.

Best seasonFebruary to May for green hills and wildflowers, and October to November for clear, mild days.
Ideal stayA full day for the Reagan Library and Strathearn Park, plus half a day for hiking at Corriganville or the Santa Susana Pass.
ArrivingHollywood Burbank Airport is about 35 minutes away, Metrolink and Amtrak stop at Simi Valley station, and State Route 118 crosses the valley.
