About Broken Arrow

Broken Arrow is a city of about 115,000 people just southeast of Tulsa, the largest suburb in the Tulsa area. It was founded in 1902 along a new railroad line in what was then the Creek Nation, and it takes its name from a Muscogee Creek community whose people had settled in the area after removal from the Southeast.

The heart of the city is the Rose District, a revitalized historic downtown along Main Street with boutiques, restaurants, breweries, murals and a farmers market. Nearby are the Museum Broken Arrow, the Military History Center and the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center, which hosts touring shows and concerts.

Outside downtown, Ray Harral Nature Park offers trails and gardens, and every holiday season the Rhema Christmas lights draw huge crowds. Each spring the city holds Rooster Days, one of the oldest festivals in Oklahoma. Tulsa's museums and riverfront are about 20 minutes away.

Best seasonApril to June and September to November; late November to December for holiday lights.
Ideal stayOne day, often combined with Tulsa.
ArrivingTulsa International Airport is about 25 minutes away; a car is the easiest way to get around.
