Springdale is a fast-growing city of about 90,000 people in the Ozark hills of Northwest Arkansas, between Fayetteville and Rogers. It is the headquarters of Tyson Foods and has one of the most diverse communities in the region, including the largest Marshallese population in the continental United States and a large Latino community, reflected in its restaurants and markets.
The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History tells the story of the region's people with exhibits, historic buildings and photographs. Revitalized Emma Avenue downtown has local restaurants, breweries and shops, and the Spring Creek boardwalk connects to the Razorback Regional Greenway, a paved trail of more than 40 miles through Northwest Arkansas.
Arvest Ballpark is home to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals minor league baseball team, and the Rodeo of the Ozarks has been held every summer since 1945. The Jones Center offers indoor recreation, and Beaver Lake, Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville and the Ozark mountain backroads are all a short drive away.
Regional history museum downtown covering life in the Arkansas Ozarks, with exhibits on farming, the poultry industry and pioneer families, plus historic buildings moved onto its grounds such as a log cabin and a general store. Admission is free; allow an hour or two.
Two-story frame building from 1871 that served as a church and Masonic hall for the early settlement of Shiloh, which became Springdale. It stands on Shiloh Square downtown and is one of the oldest buildings in the city. View it from outside or during community events.
Minor league ballpark in Springdale that is home to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, a Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. Games offer cheap seats, a grass berm, fireworks nights and kids' activities. The season runs April to September; parking is on site.
Heritage passenger train trips run by the Arkansas and Missouri Railroad from its Springdale depot through the Ozark Mountains, crossing trestles and passing through the Winslow Tunnel. Cars are restored vintage coaches. Trips run on set days; reserve ahead, especially in fall.
Long-running professional rodeo held every year around the Fourth of July at Parsons Stadium in Springdale, with bull riding, barrel racing, roping and a downtown parade. It draws big crowds, so buy tickets early and bring cash for food stands and parking.
Section of the Razorback Greenway, a paved trail linking the towns of Northwest Arkansas, that follows Spring Creek through downtown Springdale with boardwalks and bridges. It is ideal for walking or biking; ride north toward Rogers or south toward Fayetteville.
Small public square in the heart of downtown Springdale beside the Historic Shiloh Church and Shiloh Museum, with lawns, seating and space for festivals and concerts. It is a good starting point for a walk down Emma Avenue and along the Spring Creek trail.
Downtown park near Emma Avenue rebuilt with a large playground, splash pad, open lawn and a stage for concerts and events. It connects to the Razorback Greenway and is a good stop for families exploring downtown. Free street parking is available nearby.
Main street of downtown Springdale, lined with restored brick storefronts housing restaurants, breweries, coffee shops and galleries, many reflecting the city's large Latino and Marshallese communities. It hosts festivals and a weekly farmers market in season.
Large community center on Emma Avenue with an indoor ice rink, an aquatic center with lap and leisure pools, a gym and meeting spaces. It is popular with local families year-round. Day passes are inexpensive; check public skate and swim times before visiting.
