About Fairfield
Few suburbs have a grocery store that people plan road trips around, but Fairfield does. Jungle Jim's International Market, a sprawling food emporium with a monorail out front and animatronic characters in the aisles, draws shoppers from several states. The city itself sits in Butler County, between Cincinnati and Hamilton, along the Great Miami River.
Fairfield grew quickly after World War II and incorporated in 1955, turning farmland into neighborhoods, parks and shopping centers. Its civic heart is the Village Green, a landscaped town square with an amphitheater, a library and the Fairfield Community Arts Center, where concerts and theater fill the calendar.
Outdoors, Harbin Park offers wooded trails and a well-known disc golf course, Marsh Park has a fishing lake, and the Great Miami River Trail runs along the city's western edge. Cincinnati's museums and ballparks are about 30 minutes south, which makes Fairfield an easy, affordable base for exploring the region.
Best seasonMay to October for parks, concerts on the Village Green and the river trail.
