About Brampton

Brampton is a large, fast-growing city in the Peel Region of Ontario, about 40 minutes northwest of downtown Toronto. Known as the Flower City for its long history of commercial greenhouses, it is today one of Canada's most diverse cities, with a large South Asian community that shapes its food, festivals and shopping.

The historic downtown centers on Main Street and Queen Street, where the old Peel County courthouse and jail now house the Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives. Nearby, Gage Park offers gardens in summer and a popular skating trail in winter, and the Rose Theatre and Garden Square host concerts, films and festivals.

Outside the core, Brampton has lakes and green space, including Professor's Lake with its sandy beach, Chinguacousy Park in Bramalea, and the Heart Lake and Claireville conservation areas. Pearson Airport, Toronto and the Niagara region are all within easy reach.

Best seasonJune to September for lakes and festivals; December to February for skating at Gage Park.
Ideal stayOne to two days, often combined with Toronto.
ArrivingToronto Pearson Airport is about 20 minutes away; GO Transit trains connect downtown Brampton with Union Station in Toronto.
