About Simpsonville
Simpsonville is a city of about 25,000 people in Greenville County, in the Upstate of South Carolina, about 15 miles southeast of Greenville. It began as a crossroads stop named for Peter Simpson, who settled here in the 1830s, and grew into a mill town after the railroad arrived. Today it is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the region, with a small-town main street at its center.
Downtown Simpsonville, along Main Street, has a historic red-brick building on the corner, a restored former mill and local shops, cafes and restaurants. Heritage Park is the city's largest park, with walking trails, sports fields, a playground, a historic barn, and the Heritage Park Amphitheatre, an outdoor stage that hosts national touring concerts in the warmer months. The Simpsonville Arts Center, inside a restored historic school building, offers theater, exhibits and classes.
The Swamp Rabbit Trail and other greenways are being extended through the area, and Conestee Nature Preserve on the Reedy River is nearby. Paris Mountain State Park, with lakes and wooded trails, and downtown Greenville's Falls Park and Main Street are about 25 minutes away, and the BMW Performance Center near Greer is a short drive east.
Best seasonApril to June and September to October for concerts at Heritage Park and mild weather.
