About Da Nang

Da Nang is the largest city of central Vietnam, a coastal city famous for My Khe Beach, the fire-breathing Dragon Bridge and the giant Lady Buddha of Linh Ung Pagoda. The French knew it as Tourane, American forces landed here in 1965, and in recent decades it has grown into a clean, modern city of bridges and beachfront hotels.

The Han River divides the old centre, with Han Market, the pink Da Nang Cathedral and the Museum of Cham Sculpture, from the long beaches of My Khe and Non Nuoc on the eastern side. To the north the Son Tra Peninsula and the Hai Van Pass offer forest and sea views, while the Marble Mountains rise from the plain to the south. In 2025 the city was merged with neighbouring Quang Nam province.

Spend the days on the beach or exploring pagodas, the evenings on the riverside watching the bridges light up, and take the cable car up to Ba Na Hills and its Golden Bridge.
