About Zhuhai

Zhuhai is one of China's greenest and most relaxed cities, a seaside place of palm-lined avenues and offshore islands on the western side of the Pearl River estuary. It became one of the country's first Special Economic Zones in 1980 and grew quickly from fishing villages into a modern city, yet it kept a gentle pace and a long, walkable coastline.

The shore road known as Lovers' Road leads to the granite Fisher Girl, the city's symbol, standing in the waves of Xianglu Bay. Out on Hengqin Island, Chimelong Ocean Kingdom draws families from across China, while the shell-shaped Zhuhai Grand Theatre sits on its own islet. Older history survives in the Qing-era stone archways of Meixi village and the garden of Tang Shaoyi, the first premier of the Republic of China, at Tangjia.

Zhuhai Jinwan Airport, high-speed trains from Guangzhou and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge connect the city. Ferries from Xiangzhou Port serve the Wanshan islands, with clear water and quiet beaches.
