About Rohnert Park

Rohnert Park is a city of about 44,000 people in Sonoma County, about 50 miles north of San Francisco along Highway 101. It was developed in the 1950s on the former Rohnert family seed farm and became one of California's early master-planned cities, organized around neighborhoods each with its own park and school.

Today the city is best known as the home of Sonoma State University and its Green Music Center, whose Weill Hall hosts world-class classical, jazz and popular performers. Graton Resort and Casino, opened in 2013 by the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria, is one of the largest casino resorts in Northern California.

Rohnert Park also makes a practical, more affordable base for exploring Sonoma County wine country, with Santa Rosa just to the north and Petaluma to the south. Crane Creek Regional Park offers hiking in the foothills of Sonoma Mountain, and SMART trains connect the city with Marin County and the ferry to San Francisco.

Best seasonApril to October for outdoor concerts and dry, sunny weather.
Ideal stayOne or two nights as a base for a concert and Sonoma County wine country.
ArrivingCharles M. Schulz Sonoma County Airport is about 20 minutes north; SMART trains stop at Rohnert Park station.
