About Green Bay

Green Bay is a city of about 105,000 people in northeastern Wisconsin, where the Fox River flows into the bay of Lake Michigan that gives the city its name. French explorer Jean Nicolet arrived in 1634, and the settlement founded here is the oldest in Wisconsin. Fur traders, missionaries and later lumber and paper mills shaped the city's growth.

Green Bay is world-famous as the home of the Green Bay Packers, the only community-owned team in the NFL. Lambeau Field, the oldest continuously operating stadium in the league, is a pilgrimage site for fans, with the Packers Hall of Fame and stadium tours, and the surrounding Titletown district has a public park, restaurants and winter tubing hill.

Beyond football, the city has a revitalized downtown along the Fox River, with the CityDeck riverwalk, the historic Hotel Northland and the Meyer Theatre. The Neville Public Museum, the National Railroad Museum and Heritage Hill State Historical Park preserve local history, and the Green Bay Botanical Garden and Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary offer green escapes.

Best seasonJune to September for the riverfront and gardens; September to January for Packers games.
Ideal stayOne to two days for Lambeau Field, the Packers Hall of Fame, downtown and the museums.
