About Quezon City

The most populous city in Metro Manila, Quezon City was founded in 1939, named after President Manuel L. Quezon and served as the national capital from 1948 to 1976. It is a sprawling, green and busy place, home to the main campus of the University of the Philippines, the big television networks and a restless food scene that keeps reinventing itself.

Start at the Quezon Memorial Circle, the city's great park and shrine, then wander the acacia-lined Academic Oval at UP Diliman. La Mesa Ecopark offers forest trails and boating on the edge of the watershed that supplies much of the metro's water, and the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center is a shaded refuge nearby.

Cubao is the old commercial hub, with the Big Dome arena, the vintage shops of Cubao Expo and a 3D art museum. Food lovers head to Maginhawa Street and Tomas Morato Avenue, while Santo Domingo Church and the EDSA Shrine are two of the most important churches in the capital region.

Best seasonDecember to April is driest; June to October brings monsoon rains and occasional typhoons.
Ideal stayTwo days for the parks, UP Diliman, Cubao and the food streets.
ArrivingNinoy Aquino International Airport is about an hour away depending on traffic; MRT-3 runs along EDSA and LRT-2 serves Cubao.
