About Moline

Moline is a city of about 42,000 people on the Mississippi River in Rock Island County, Illinois, and one of the Quad Cities along with Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf. The river here runs east to west, and Moline faces Bettendorf, Iowa across the water.

Moline grew as a manufacturing town after John Deere moved his plow business here in 1848, and Deere and Company still has its world headquarters in the city, a steel and glass campus designed by Eero Saarinen. The Deere-Wiman House and Butterworth Center, homes of the Deere family, are open for tours, and the John Deere Pavilion downtown shows the company's machines past and present.

Downtown Moline has a historic commercial district, the riverfront Bass Street Landing and the Vibrant Arena at The MARK, which hosts concerts and hockey. A riverside parkway, Sylvan Island and the new I-74 bridge with its walkway offer river views, and the Channel Cat water taxi links Moline with the other Quad Cities in summer.

Best seasonMay to September for the riverfront, water taxi and lilac garden; May for the lilacs.
Ideal stayOne to two days, combined with the rest of the Quad Cities.
ArrivingQuad Cities International Airport is in Moline, about 10 minutes from downtown.
