Personally? I discoverd Appliance Professionals two years ago and have never had a bad experience. The prices are fair and everything has worked like it should. No breakdowns yet. The staff with whom I dealt were friendly and courteous. I was looking up their info, (because I need to make another purchase) ran across the rating and was surprised it wasn't higher. They've been around several years, but it does look like the older reviews seem to rate the experience less favorably. I also noticed that those who had bad experiences were more likely to be in a hurry. That's a red flag and the reason for this long review. Buying a used appliance is like buying a used car. And, just like cars, they don't build them like they used to. (i.e. like tanks) For anything used, you must do your homework. Check the reviews. Find out the strengths and weakenesses of each appliance brand and model. They are not all created equally. And for appliances, generally, simple means durability and reliability. The more mechanical, the less fancy, the better. Older designs are tested and true. Check the manufacture date. Ask to plug things in. Some newer appliances have on board diagnostics. Learn how to access those systems. Look inside the washers and dryers. Remove the soap dispenser drawer, and look in the slot. Spin the drum by hand to make sure it spins freely and evenly with no grinding, screeching, or bumping. Grasp the drum and feel for play and it's support. Is the door seal on the washer soft and pliable and free of tears? Any clunking? Look at the case. Particularly the backs of washers, dryers, fridges. Are they clean? Any excess dirt or lint? Free of big scrapes and gouges? Any indication of water damage? Soap trails, warped cardboard backing? Examine stoves inside and out. Lift the cook top to see if it's clean with no burnt wiring. Look for missing screws on the case. Look at the lint trap and lint chute. Really. Go ahead and smell around everything. Anything smell burnt or rotten? Use your senses. They provide clues. These are all things you should be doing as a consumer. And finally, I remember all the times I'd bring something to my dad and say, "I don't know what happened?" To which he would simply reply, " yeah. it was fine until it broke." Although a lot depends on how a product is used and maintained, appliances can have intermittent electrial or sensor failures that don't show up all the time. You can't remain in business vey long these days if your goal is to cheat your customers, so as frustrating the situation? Try and remain calm.
Purchased this used at Appliance Professionals in Des Moines. Was told there might be some lint and stuff in it as โwe use towels to test the machinesโ. No problem. Get home and hook it up. So excited for a front load. Leaks all over the floor. Upon further inspection door seal has holes all over in it. No way this machine was โtestedโ. I canโt get my money back they will only swap machines at their โdiscretionโ. Do not recommend. Very disappointed. Live an hour and a half away so not just near Des Moines all the time and not easy for a girl to get an appliance loaded and unloaded on a whim. Also gave them a dryer that worked and no longer needed. Did give me $50 off listed price. Paid $375 with tax.
Discovered this place about 3 months ago, when I was looking for a washing machine. They were the one of the few places I could find that had good prices on appliances. I am glad I went here first! They had a great selection of washers and dryers, and the people who helped me were friendly, and helpful! I wanted an old school direct drive washing machine, and they delivered! Found a Kenmore 90 series for a great price and it looked like it was brand new. Washing machine runs like new and cleans my clothes better than most! Gave me a 60 day warranty on the washer as well! Thank you guys for the great washing machine, I recommend this place to anyone needing a budget appliance
We found Appliance Professionals to be easy to work with, willing to help when we found some situations that were challenging in the rental we were in. This place is a really important place for those of us who are short on funds for new appliances. The washer and dryer we bought were in great working order. I love there is a 60 day warranty on their wares.
I needed a washer and dryer ASAP becuz mine broke and needed one right away since we are in a rental. I thought this was the perfect place. I paid over 700 for the whirlpool set. I didn't think to check how clean they were because I guess I figured since they repair them they clean then at the same time. Not the case. The washer I have is horrible with hard water scale and the dryer was a fire Hazard since I literally put my hand in the lint trap and have gotten handfuls and handfuls of old dryer lint, Bobby pins, bread tie, parts to a little girls bracelet. So apparently they can't be troubled to even vacuum out a dryer for a fire Hazzard before they sell it. Inside the drum is black old gum on several parts they I have to get off. I have bought used before and it has never been this bad. Will never buy here again. Ob and your upfront warranty as you say stinks. U should be hauling these appliances for the customer since you obviously didn't make sure that these products weren't defective. I dont know how your still in business
