We originally hired Jeff Veglia Remodeling with an extensive gut renovation of our 3,200 sq. ft. home—encompassing the four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a new kitchen, window replacements, a high-efficiency furnace, hot water heater, high-velocity A/C, floor plan modernization, wall reconfiguration, tiling, flooring, and paint—we were thoroughly impressed by Jeff and his team's pricing, quality, responsiveness, punctuality, and professionalism. Therefore, when the time came to completely transform our basement into a comfortable, modern living area, our contractor selection was an easy choice. I have included images of their work in our home for reference. The basement presented several challenges, including an uneven concrete slab floor, drafty and damp fieldstone walls, and numerous legacy pipes and electrical conduits. We also wanted to preserve the existing, but dated, fieldstone fireplace. Our vision included a mudroom and a versatile play space for both children and adults. Jeff immediately offered insightful ideas on how to optimize the existing layout while ensuring a dry and comfortable environment year-round. Jeff's team delivered quality while respecting our budget. They diligently spray-foamed the exterior fieldstone foundation walls, framed, and sheet-rocked, even going the extra mile by plastering for a superior wall finish. The floors were precisely leveled and covered with high-quality wood-grained porcelain tiles, offering the aesthetic of real wood with the durability and moisture resistance ideal for a basement. They meticulously rebuilt the original, worn pine staircase with red oak, widening it with a staggered wall detail for a modern architectural look. The fireplace was meticulously stripped, acid-washed, and re-mortared. They installed a new absolute black honed granite mantle and hearth, providing a clean, contemporary touch that still respects the original 1920s stonework. All recessed lighting features warm, dimmable LEDs, and the heating is provided by an exceptionally efficient European Buderus radiator system. Elvis, Jeff's invaluable right-hand man on-site and a talented finishing carpenter, brought our ideas and paper napkin sketches to life, constructing detailed and functional built-in shelving and benches for both the main room and the mudroom. There are a lot of contractors out there that call themselves professionals. Do yourself a favor and work with someone who has the experience and resources to bring your ideas to life. Jeff and team did a great job, walking us through every step of the process with care and expertise. We had a vague idea of what we wanted, showed Jeff what our neighbors had done, and he took over from there. Helped us connect with the people providing cabinets, tiles, counter tops. Even acted as our therapist when we chose the wrong color for the wall and needed it fixed. Everyone he brought in were professional and courteous. We are super happy with how everything turned out, and would highly recommend him for remodel projects.
