Government College for Elementary Teachers (W) Vehari was established on January 1998. The institution aimed to impart training & practicum to in-service teachers as well as prospective teachers. Since its inception, it mainly focused teacher education. Therefore, such programs were initiated as led the in-service teachers to enhance their teaching skill and professional competency. It also provided an opportunity to the prospective teachers to be engaged in experimental learning and supported them to strengthen their skills in teaching and impart a professional sprit among them. It has successfully performed the role of a leading institution in teacher education in the area. After the establishment of University of Education, Lahore in August 2002, GCET (W) Vehari was entitled as University College of Education Vehari on June, 22 2005. On September 09, 2006 University College of Education Vehari was granted the status of a Campus of University of Education, Lahore. Since it being the constituent Campus of University of Education, Lahore, it has been offering new programs along with the courses specifically aiming at teacher education. It has become a prestigious institution committed to provide quality education and professional excellence, and to meet modern trends in education around the globe.

The University of Education (UE) is a public university in Pakistan, established on September 10, 2002, by the Government of Punjab. It is primarily focused on teacher education and has the goal of producing quality teachers and promoting educational leadership. UE has multiple campuses across Punjab, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Vehari.
