Pizza was okay, not amazing, but not terrible either. The crust was a bit too chewy for my taste, and the sauce could’ve used more flavor. Toppings were fresh, though, and the portion sizes were decent. Service was friendly but a little slow, even though the place wasn’t too busy. The potatoes on the side with sandwich tasted horrible. Overall, it’s an average spot. If you’re nearby and craving pizza, but not something I’d go out of my way for.
An authentic slice of Naples right in Lahore. The Mad Italian is hands down one of the most impressive spots in the city for true Neapolitan pizza. The Blackened Chicken & Feta pizza was beautifully balanced — smoky, creamy, and full of character. The Truffle Mushroom Al Fungi? Rich, earthy, and decadent without being heavy. You can taste the craftsmanship in that dough. We also tried the 3AM Chicken Alfredo, which lived up to its name — pure comfort food, indulgent and soul-satisfying. And the tiramisu? Light, creamy, and just the right hit of espresso — honestly one of the best we’ve had in Lahore. A small but brilliant detail: serving Coke with a lemon wedge and olive oil with pizzas, such a simple, old-school Italian touch that shows they care about tradition.
I ordered the blackened chicken and a truffle pizza — the chicken was excellent. For dessert, we had tiramisu, but it was overly sweet and had too much coffee soaked into the sponge. We chose to sit outside, which turned out to be a mistake because of the bugs and mosquitoes. Service was pretty quick. Overall, the pizza was decent, so I’d say it’s still worth going back.
Atmosphere: 1/5: Imagine dining in the middle of a rock concert… minus the band. If you’re into shouting your order across the table and feeling the bass in your bones, this is the spot. Tuscan Chicken Pizza: Absolute masterpiece. The flavors came together really well. A must-try. Solid 10/10. Smashed Baked Baby Potatoes: Cute name, average performance. They weren’t bad, but let’s just say I wouldn’t try again. Would I go back? Yes!! but mainly to cheat on my diet with more pizza flavors. The atmosphere may be loud, but trust me, your taste buds will be too busy being bothered!
I have been a regular visitor at "The Mad Italian" for their Pasta and Pizza. I have complained numerous times about the menu card that contains description in 7pt font size. It's totally unreadable in dim lighting that they have. I usually visited with my immediate family but today my friends were going out to some other restaurant but I called them and told them to come over. Obviously we were paying separately according to our order. As I got early to the restaurant, I called the manger to tell him that we will be ordering separately and paying separately but to my astonishment he said although you are paying separately and ordering separately we will still consider you a group larger than seven and will charge you service fee of 10 %. I told him what if we sit on separate tables to as separate groups?, but he said that it can not happen now as they have already arranged the table for us. My friends were still not at the restaurant but I had no option but to agree to this absurd logic as I had invited my friends to enjoy the meal together. The place was totally empty and we were the only table as you can see from the pictures. The pizza and pasta was great as always but the level of service was well below then usual. The staff was a little unfriendly and they even switchwd off lighs like wedding halls 10 minutes before midnight to send message across that the restaurant is closing. I totally fail to understand the logic of charging 10% extra service charges when you are making a bigger order and giving more business to the restaurant. By what standard does it increase the cost of the restaurant if a group of seven or more take a table. Also I feel that the restaurant is a hospitality business and with such rigid rules and lack of courtesy it's difficult to sustain. While I was taking pictures of the restaurant they explicitly asked me not take picture of the kitchen....
