1. No purchase necessary
NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. Creating a WiserMap account is free, and there is a free way to enter every round without earning points (section 6).
2. Sponsor
The rounds are run by WiserMap at wisermap.com ("Sponsor"). Questions about the rounds can be sent through the contact page on wisermap.com.
3. Who can take part
Open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 or older (or the age of majority where they live, if higher) when they enter. Employees of Sponsor and the members of their immediate families and households cannot win.
The business gift is open to businesses located in the United States that are listed on WiserMap and managed by a WiserMap account. The prize for a business is paid to the account holder who owns that listing, who must meet the rules above.
4. The two rounds
There are two separate rounds that run again and again: a people gift and a business gift. Each round has one prize of $500. A round closes when 250 different people (or 250 different businesses) have an entry in it, or 120 days after it opened at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, whichever comes first. The next round opens right after a winner is picked. The current status of each round is shown on wisermap.com/win.
5. Entering with points
Signed-in members earn points for activity that WiserMap approves. Every 100 approved points make 1 entry. To keep things fair, no more than 20 points from any one activity count toward a single entry; extra points are kept and count toward later entries.

For the business gift, a business earns +20 for each business it invites that joins, +10 for claiming or adding a listing and +2 for each approved photo of the business. Free listings take part; no paid plan is needed.
Honest reviews only. Points never depend on the rating given. Only one review per business counts, reviews of a business you own or work for never count, and reviews and photos must follow WiserMap's content guidelines. Points only count for activity after the first round opened. Sponsor may hold points while it checks them and may remove points, entries or prizes linked to fake, copied, paid-for or duplicate activity or to more than one account per person.
6. Free entry without points
Anyone eligible can enter each round for free without earning points: sign in to a free WiserMap account, go to wisermap.com/win/free-entry and choose "Enter for free". This gives the same single entry, with the same chance of winning, as an entry earned with points. A business owner can enter each eligible business they own into the business gift the same way.
7. One entry per round
Each person can have only one entry in each people gift, and each business only one entry in each business gift, however it was earned. Extra entries earned with points are saved and placed into the following rounds automatically, one per round.
8. Picking the winner and the odds
Within 7 days after a round closes, one entry is picked at random by a computer from all eligible entries in that round, and the order of the next five entries is saved in case an alternate winner is needed. The odds depend on how many eligible entries are in the round. A full round has 250 entries, so the odds are 1 in 250; a round that closes on its end date with fewer entries has better odds.
9. Winner notice and checks
The winner is told by email at the address on their WiserMap account and on their WiserMap dashboard. To receive the prize, the winner must add the email of their PayPal account on their dashboard within 14 days of the notice and may be asked to confirm their name, age and state, and where lawful to sign a statement of eligibility. If a winner does not respond in time, is not eligible or breaks these rules, the prize is forfeited and the next saved entry becomes the winner.
10. The prize
Each round has one prize of $500 (US dollars), paid to the winner's PayPal account within 30 days after the winner is confirmed. The winner needs a PayPal account in their own name to receive it. The prize cannot be transferred or exchanged. Any taxes are the winner's responsibility. Sponsor will not charge the winner any fee to receive the prize.
11. General conditions
By taking part, entrants accept these rules and Sponsor's decisions. Sponsor may disqualify anyone who tampers with the rounds, uses more than one account, or posts fake reviews or photos. If fraud, a technical failure or anything else beyond Sponsor's control harms the fairness of a round, Sponsor may change, pause or end that round and pick the winner from eligible entries received before the problem. Sponsor is not responsible for entries or points that are lost, late or not recorded because of technical problems. To the extent allowed by law, entrants release Sponsor from claims arising from taking part or from accepting or using the prize.
12. Privacy and winners list
Information collected for the rounds is used to run them and is handled under WiserMap's privacy policy. With the winner's permission, their first name and city may be shown on wisermap.com/win. A list of winners is shown on that page or can be requested through the contact page.
