Hazrat Shah Shams: A Revered Saint, Scholar, and Spiritual Guide Life and Education: Hazrat Shah Shams belonged to a scholarly and spiritual lineage. He received his early education from his father and other esteemed scholars. However, his deep spiritual longing led him towards the path of mysticism. His travels were driven by the quest for inner knowledge and the pursuit of divine truth. Arrival in Multan: According to traditions, Hazrat Shams Tabriz stayed in Multan for a significant period and imparted spiritual blessings to many people. It is also said that he met Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani during his time in the city. Miracles and Teachings: Several miracles are attributed to him, the most famous being the incident where he is said to have held the sun in his hand, which led to him being called “Shams” (Sun) of Tabriz. He preached the love of God, divine knowledge, and human compassion. Passing and Shrine: Hazrat Shah Shams passed away in 1248 AD. His shrine in Multan remains a revered spiritual center, where thousands of devotees gather annually to seek blessings. Hazrat Shah Shams’ teachings continue to inspire people with the message of divine love, spiritual truth, and service to humanity. His legacy is a shining chapter in the Sufi tradition, eternally cherished in the hearts of true seekers.

Shah Shams Sabzwari Multani (The Ismaili Saint) This figure is revered in the Indian subcontinent, particularly in Multan. Identity: Hazrat Pir Shah Shamsuddin Sabzwari Multani (d. 1276 CE), a celebrated Ismaili Muslim missionary and saint. Location: His shrine is located in Multan, Pakistan, near the Multan Fort. Missionary Work: He was a prominent Da'i (missionary) for the Ismaili Nizari branch of Shia Islam. He traveled and preached extensively across South Asia, including Kashmir, Sindh, and Gujarat, before making Multan his headquarters. Tomb Architecture: His mausoleum is a significant example of the Multani style of architecture, featuring the characteristic square base, octagonal middle, and hemispherical dome, much like the tombs of Bahauddin Zakariya and Shah Rukn-e-Alam.
