Peter Bug Shoe & Leather repair

I left about 8 pairs of sandals to be repaired. The owner was very patient and advised that it might take a while to order and receive the new inserts I wanted. I haven't been called to pick them up yet, but I expected it to take longer. Looking forward to returning and keeping this shop on my list of good places. BTW, the address is a bit confusing, but the shop is on the NE corner of the street.

I feel guilty leaving a small business a bad review, but this is the worse shoe repair service I’ve ever experienced. They did a shoddy job on nearly every pair, and the soles were already peeling back in multiple places the day I picked them up. they left new scuffs on the shoes that weren’t there before and somehow turned two pairs of sneakers completely yellow that just needed a quick cleaning. they also lost one of the sneaker’s original laces that came with the shoe. (and are special laces that the shoe can only use, so now I need new ones). on top of that they somehow gave me a pair of shoes that didn’t belong to me, so I had to go back and drop those off. again, I only post this because I’m out a lot of money for really poor service.

Ruined my favorite boots. Instead of telling me my boots had a cupped sole and would need to be custom ordered, he sanded off the tread and haphazardly glued new soles on. When I received them back, nails were sticking out of the bottom, and there were lumps of glue visible along the sides, and gaps between the heel block and front part of the shoe. I wanted my shoes repaired, but not visibly so. Took them to another cobbler who said it'd be almost $200 to repair properly, after I paid over $80 for work I could've done better myself. I hate to bash a local establishment, but if this was a project outside his skill-set, I'd rather have gotten that info up front so I could get them repaired properly, instead of making them unwearable. Will not be back, snd do not recommend.

Took in a pair of boots with some water damage and gouged scuff marks. Mr. Matthews did great work in a matter of only a few hours, and was very reasonably priced. Will come back here for sure.
