Save yourself the headache and avoid Actaeon, LLC (Hudson Lee). We hired him for a project explicitly titled "Drainage/Regrading Retrofitting" to fix a wet yard. The experience was a disaster. Warning to future clients: This contractor offered NO WARRANTY. We found this out the hard way. When the work failed, we had zero protection. 1. He Refused Responsibility for Damage His Crew Caused First, his crew splashed permanent purple PVC primer on our vinyl siding. Mistakes happen, but when we asked Hudson to address it, he actually argued that he didn't have to clean it. He sent a text stating: "we are not responsible for what can go wrong... that is put in place to protect us from this exact thing." He literally claimed his "contract" protected him from having to clean up damage his own team caused. 2. The Main Project Failed (And His Team Admitted It) The actual grading work was a total failure. The area they supposedly "retrofitted" remained a squishy, saturated swamp, and the new sod died because the water had nowhere to go. We actually had his own Project Manager come out to look at it. We have him on video stepping in the mud, admitting the drainage wasn't working, and agreeing to report the failure to Hudson. 3. Refusal to Fix It & Unprofessional Threats Because Actaeon offers no warranty, Hudson refused to fix the standing water. Instead, he got aggressive: - He claimed we were "over-watering" (even though the yard hadn't been watered in two weeks and was clearly not draining). - He made contradictory claims about whether he had been paid or not to confuse the situation. - He threatened to sue us for "defamation" just for saying we would report him to the MHIC. - Immediately following Hudson's officially notified abandonment of the project, his Project Manager texted me asking for additional access to my property. Yet another contradictory action on this company's part. 4. Additional Defects & Code Violations On top of the grading failure, we later discovered other separate issues with his installation: - He installed a discharge pipe that violated Anne Arundel County Code (it dumped water too close to the street/sidewalk). - He installed a downspout drain in the backyard that was graded uphill, causing water to back up toward the house instead of flowing away. We had to hire a completely different company to come in, tear out Actaeon's mess, and redo the job correctly. They fixed it immediately. Do not let Actaeon touch your property.
