Black Fin Surf School, Belanak Lombok

I took surfing lessons here with my partner and we had the most wonderful time. Everyone is so welcoming, chilled and kind. We had the best instructor ever - Bilal and he just made our lessons so fun and perfect. Definitely recommend coming here. The food is amazing as well by the way!

Black Fin Surf School is absolutely fantastic! The instructors are not only highly experienced, but also incredibly friendly and patient. They have a great approach to teaching both kids and adults, making everyone feel comfortable in the water—whether you're a total beginner or looking to improve your skills. The lessons are well-structured and effective, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of instruction you receive. A really nice bonus is that they offer free sunbeds and umbrellas as part of the lesson package, which makes relaxing on the beach afterward even more enjoyable. And don’t miss out on their mie goreng after your session—it’s delicious and the perfect way to end a great day of surfing. Highly recommended!

I had an amazing first-time surfing experience with Black Fin Surf School in Selong Belanak! Sandy and his team were incredibly friendly, patient and skilled teachers. From the very first lesson, they made us feel safe and confident in the water — and in no time, I was already catching my first small but spicy waves! We started with a 2-hour class on our first day and loved it so much that we immediately booked another one the next day — and even squeezed in a final lesson before we left. Every class was fun, energising and full of good vibes. Highly recommend if you're in the area and want to learn surfing the right way! 🤙

I’ve had the most amazing two months surfing in Lombok at Black Fin! I took ~10 x 2 hour lessons with Sandy and could immediately see progress! Sandy is the best surf teacher I’ve had (I had lessons in different countries before this) and I’ve always felt super safe in the water - he gives you feedback after each wave and his surf knowledge and experience have been so helpful! I was able to try out different boards and progress to shorter ones and even a hard board! After lessons or on days you want to practice, it’s also great to rent a board and try by yourself - the guys are always happy to help! You can also get delicious food and fresh juices here after surfing:) If you want to learn how to surf, get good feedback and progress, I highly recommend coming to Black Fin! I did a 3-day course with them as a total beginner, and it was amazing! The team was patient, encouraging, and really helped me build confidence. I had such a great time! The food there is also fantastic — definitely eat on-site, everything is delicious and very fairly priced. Huge thanks to Sandi and the whole team — you made the perfect ending to my Lombok trip!
